UNION

We’ve been in a relationship for seventeen years.

Some days you feel so familiar, like an old friend or family member.

It’s like we’ve breathed, pulsed, sung and chanted.  Whilst been in action and stillness together for lifetimes.

Yet some days I feel I know nothing of you.  You’re an elusive mystery with too many levels to penetrate within a single lifetime.

So I read, I research, I learn and explore the many facets to your never ending faces.

The more I hear people’s ideas of you, the more I crave silence.

The more I hear poetry sharing the experience of you, the more I want to close my eyes, go in deeper and experience my own interpretation.

It’s in the silence, the space, the commitment to practice that our union makes its embrace.

We could paint this magic with a thousand words, impress our lens view on every set of hungry ears.

Or,
We could simply be in presence.

Be in the essence, the nectar of what it is to show up daily.

It’s not the playlist, or the poem that someone else wrote.

It’s not the beat that dropped the moment my feet left the floor.

It’s not even the theme weaving to the dance of asanas strung together like beads on a Mala.

It is the moments of pause.

It’s the inward experience of witnessing egos presence wiillingly hop out of the drivers seat to enjoy a passenger view.

It’s the aftermath where cells oscillate enthusiastically in celebration of simply having another day living with you.

It’s to participate in the world whilst delighting in sensory feels. From tastes and touch, to visions, sounds and smells.

It’s to breathe, to laugh, to cry, to dance, to write, to enquire and then exhale loudly to let it ALL go.

Because I am

Because You Are
